How is Kristin's coaching different?


Kristin uses Motivational Interviewing, or MI, with her clients. It is a "collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person's own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion." (Miller & Rollnick, 2013, p.29) Kristin's work with clients goes far beyond hitting a target weight, eating healthier, and integrating exercise into the lifestyle. Clients learn how to evoke confidence and motivation in all aspects of their lives--business, family, and relationships.


Additionally, Kristin is a veteran educator. Prior to launching her nutrition and fitness career full-time, Kristin was a high school English teacher for 10 years, and hold her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.  She quickly learned that delivering content is easy, but student engagement and mastery requires a tremendous amount of creativity, patience, and empathy. Just as no two students have the same reading, writing, or learning style, no two clients have the same body type, genetics, dietary needs, and experience.

Many clients I've worked with want instant results and are easily discouraged, and I am fully equipped to handle impatience. Since we create your weight loss with small changes, weight loss will not be drastic, nor should it be---drastic weight loss NEVER lasts. I am 100% committed to you and the process because it works. If a client grows impatient, we calmly redirect and focus on what is working, because in every relationship, there are things that work and things that don't. We're in this journey together, and I won't let you give up.

I build Dream Teams.

I do not work with ordinary people and I am not an ordinary coach. I do not simply tell you what to eat, check your food journal, and tell you what to fix. I do not judge you by your measurements. We are human, and losing weight is an emotional roller coaster. Not only do you and I build a partnership, but I connect you with others who are going through the same journey via our private Facebook group. With your permission, we'll get your loved ones involved. As we say in the school system, it takes a village. Hell, it takes a dynasty.  And let's just say you'll be joining a winning dynasty.

I don't sell things you don't need.

I never push extra services, supplements, protein powders, or any other products. You'll learn why, if you work with me. I do share my favorite brands, snacks, recipes, etc that myself and other clients recommend, but I do not make money from selling products.

  • I've given up sugar, coffee, alcohol, and carbs for months to lose weight, only to gain it all back and THEN some.

  • I've gained weight from medication.

  • I've fallen for a pyramid scheme.

  • I've fasted for five days and even tried a Fast-mimicking diet. Not kidding.

  • I've meticulously counted calories, starting in 8th grade.

  • I've worked out twice a day, six to seven days a week to lose weight, only sabotaging myself with a poor diet.

  • I've followed strict meal plans, only to binge on weekends.

  • I've been unhappy with how I look in pictures.

  • I've also liked how I looked in pictures, only to remember that was a time when I gave up sugar, coffee, alcohol, and my sanity.

  • I've vowed to hold myself accountable, yet failed because I resent restriction.

  • I've done Intermittent Fasting, but it doesn't work for me on a regular basis.

  • I've done everything right, only not to shed a single pound.

Because of my experiences and your own, I will not coach you through a fad diet or make you give up your favorite foods. Everything listed above motivated me to launch Create my Weight. My mission is to help people stop looking for solutions and start creating their own. IT'S THE ONLY WAY THAT WORKS.
